About
The Periyar University in Salem, Tamil Nadu, commenced operations of its Periyar University Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), also known as PRIDE, in 2001-02. PRIDE conducts many undergraduate and post-graduate courses. Since 2010-11, PRIDE has started functioning University Industry Collaborative Programs. The aim of these programs is to implement job-related programs to address the industrial requirements of students. In January 2021, PRIDE started conducting online programs.

Admission Criteria
To apply for distance BBA, you must have passed the HSC examination in the academic or vocational stream conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu or any equivalent examination. Alternatively, you must have passed the SSC examination and the 3-year Diploma course after this examination.
To apply for distance BCA, you must have passed the HSC examination with Statistics, Computer Science, Business Mathematics or Mathematics as one of the subjects in the academic or vocational stream under the HSC Board of Examination, Tamil Nadu or as per the rules set by the Government of Tamil Nadu or equivalent. Alternatively, you must have passed the SSC examination and the 3-year Diploma course after this examination.
To apply for a distance MBA or online MBA, you must have passed the Bachelor's degree in any discipline of a recognised university.
To apply for distance MCA, you must have passed the Bachelor's degree of a minimum duration of three years in any discipline with Mathematics at the +2 level or any Bachelor's degree with at least one paper out of Business Statistics, Business Mathematics, Statistics or Mathematics at the degree level.

Periyar University has a Career Guidance and Placement Cell. It provides training in language skills and soft skills. This cell conducts aptitude tests, model tests, group discussions and mock campus drives to prepare students for the campus drives of reputed companies, private sectors and Government departments.
